2019: A Year In Review & End of an Era

It's been a while since I've posted here and perhaps I should make it my New Year's resolution to change that, but I prefer to not make promises that I can't keep. Instead, I can only promise to do my best to try and utilize this space a bit more.

To me, 2019 has been a year of changes, and also a coming to terms with the fact that sometimes it's okay to step back and take a breather in order not to burn out.

To clarify, I'm not giving up on writing. Book four of Q-16 is still in the works and while it may come a little bit later than my ambitious timeline goal for the previous three books in the series, it's on the way. The outline is nearing completion and I hope to begin draft one in the new year.

I admit that this part of the process has taken me much longer than with previous books, however, if you asked me at the beginning of the decade if I believed I would have three novels published I would have probably laughed and walked away. Like Sam in Lord of the Rings when he comments on if he takes one more step, it'll be the furthest he's ever gone from the Shire, so too have I entered a part of my writing journey that I never thought in my lifetime I would get to. That's not to say I don't know where the fourth book is going, only that it requires much more planning and research.

Overall, the year offers me nothing to complain about, I've had another three short stories published and a novel. I've also started a new job, which while it has taken up more of my free time, has allowed me to explore new possibilities for my writing, more on that in the New Year though.

I leave the decade having completed three novels, published over half a dozen short stories, completed a bachelor's degree as well as a diploma, advanced in my day job career path, won an award for a short film, fallen in love and having conquered my dyslexia.

All in all I can't complain and I can't wait what this next year and decade has to bring.

Till next we meet. Keep it awesome and happy New Year!
